The Hunger Games!

Final_posterweb

Like every movie devotee would love this one. Who wouldn't anyway? I even dare to give 9 out of 10 for this superb sci-fi movie! Indeed did it have an amazing plot, cool effects, great actors & actresses; those exactly make The Hunger Games a really good movie and really worth to watch.

Must be wondering then, how good is The Hunger Games (at least in my eyes)? Well, for me (at first), who hasn't even read the whole series of the books by Suzanne Collins (though I have bought the first book of the trilogy-- the translated one), The Hunger Games was more like a corporation between two of my favorite films, Avatar and Twilight Saga. No? Well okay it was just my glimpse when I firstly heard about this movie back then.

The Capitol somehow would be like Pandora in Avatar, the scientific technology (like when Katniss and other tributes were applied to a detector), hybrid things... That's pretty much Avatar-like. Just when a friend told me that there would also be a fuckin triangle love, my thought practically went to Twilight Saga. Make sense, eh?

Okay, I'm warning you I'm pretty awful at reviewing things (either it's movie or book). I basically don't like to review, I SPOIL INSTEAD :P So if you hate spoilers, just stop reading this post until this part, okay? That way won't hurt your curiousity.

Since I'm too reluctant to write a brief synopsis (that's why I told you I like to spoil instead!) which you can always find via Google, I'm just gonna quote some from Wikipedia. Here you go:

The Hunger Games takes place in a nation known as Panem after the destruction of North America by some unknown apocalyptic event. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol in which a 13th district was destroyed, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by annual lottery to participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants (or "tributes") must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th annual Hunger Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also selected from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a baker's son whom Katniss knows from school, and who once gave her bread when her family was starving.
And.... the spoiler starts!

From the very beginning, the feeling of tense already arose. The reaping part is my favorite! When Prim (Katniss' little sister)'s name was actually called out during the reaping, then Katniss suddenly rose against it and volunteered herself as tributes as she said, "I VOLUNTEER! I volunteer as tributes!" that was just...... epic. I don't think I would be willing to sacrifice myself that far if I were Katniss. (Suck me is suck). Haha. Though I had watched the trailer where this scene is presented before, I still had this excitement in my nerves during the movie!!

My first impression of Peeta Mellark... full of doubt. Would this guy (Josh Hutcherson) make a strong character of Peeta? And as a shocking turns-out, he did well. He did BETTER than I ever expected, and my doubt vanished right away. (Anyway, kalian anak SMADA pasti pada ga percaya kalo saya bilang Peeta disitu agak mirip Afin, apalagi pas ketawa! Fika sebagai ceweknya aja mengiyakan, lho. Lol)

Favorite part of him: when he went incognito by the river (as he painted his head & face like a boulder, and cover up his body with lichens) and suddenly Katniss almost stepped on to him and he grabbed Katniss' leg and "BA!". LOL! Startling yet so funny! Both of their expression were so priceless! And later when Katniss asked by Caesar Flickerman what did she feel when she found Peeta by the river, "I felt like the happiest person on Earth." Isn't that sweeeet <3

My third favorite part after the reaping part and Peeta gone incogito is.... the dead scene of Rue :--------( Okay this is kind of silly, but I literally cried during this scene. Especially when Katniss put garland of flowers around Rue's dead body and addressed 3-fingers-regard (which I convinced as a condolence) to the District 11 people.

Noticed any other eye-candies? DEFINITELY YES!

Say, this movie provides you with LOTS of good looking dudes. Cato (Alexander Ludwig) as one of the antagonist roles, he came from District 2 with Clove (Isabelle Fuhrman, the girl with 'mental pembunuh', I name her :p). And then, Cinna (Lenny Kravitz-- GOSH HE'S HOT!), Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley), tribute guys from District 3 and 8 (if I'm not mistaken). And don't forget Gale (Liam Hemsworth)! The one who would have a so-called triangle love with Katniss and Peeta.

I don't really ship Gale-Katniss relationship thou, it's kind of whimsy, don't you think? Unlike the originally-built-feeling of Peeta to Katniss which is so cute! They make a nice couple! In fact, the approved-feeling of Katniss to Peeta was actually made for the games only :-(

As my fourth favorite part: when Katniss & Peeta kissed, just look at Gale's heartbroken expression. *ROFL*

Okay. OKAY. I've spoilt almost everything. There are still lots of my favorite scenes I want to share, tho :-( At last, you will never regret watching this movie. Instead, you will crave for the sequel and be rotten waiting 22th November 2013 to come. :-D

May the odds be ever in your favor.
