Cleopatra na Onnatachi: Hurtful Ending for Hurtful Rating.

by - Thursday, August 09, 2012
It's pretty embarrassing to finish up a snap-out dorama (which is only 8 episodes long) in no shorter than 3 days whilst having so many leisure times to spend.
So, here's this one dorama I've just done watching last night, titled Cleopatra na Onnatachi (2012). I actually don't have this kind of tendency to review or spoil doramas/movies/books/songs I have been watching/reading/listening unless directly being asked to. (rather than write them down in a blog, I'd much prefer to tell them with plump!)
But I've got this urge to claptrap about the whole thing in this dorama since it has either disappointed me or left me with enough contentment (of hurtful feelings). That doesn't mean I'm going to properly review so don't expect much! :)

Kanto's viewership rating: 0.7%
Personal rating: 3.5 out of 5

There has been A LOT of doramas with professional backgrounds brought up as a focus and most of them would pick up either detective/elite cops or medical theme.

Cleopatra na Onnatachi is actually plotted as one, it's based on a misconception of beauty & plastic surgery in laity. There was this one plastic surgery specialist in university hospital named Kishi Minetaro (Sato Ryuta) who was running in debt over his father's. Considering the salary he got in university hospital was inadequate enough to repay the bail-out every month, he decided to transfer himself to a beauty clinic hospital called BSC which definitely would give him three times of his salary in university hospital. It was really hard for Mine-sensei (Mineta's nickname in BSC) ever since the first day of his work in BSC. Surrounded by beautiful doctors (Mari-sensei/Yo Kimiko, Ichii-sensei/Inamori Izumi, Hoshida-sensei/Ashina Sei) and nurses (Ao-chan/Kitano Kii, Moe-chan, etc) who strongly believe that "faces are for lives" was tough for he needs to adapt with community that's clearly against his principle. Sad truth it is :(

Apart from the issues and pressure Mineta had in work, he has another complication; didn't believe women. But he wasn't gay either, despite living with his gay friend, Kurosaki Yu (Ayano Go). He's all okay with it.

cno5 cno8

Yu himself had to endure his feeling towards Mineta whom he had always been in love with since junior high. ;______; (Idk but I'm deadly into Yu's matter out of all matters in the whole episode more than the main idea itself.) I could presume that Go's presence and his perfect potrayal of Kurosaki Yu was the reason I kept watching it till the very end.
What's really disappointing me is the minor turnout of romance between Mineta and Ichii-sensei that seemed so.... forced and awkward and pitiful and somehow it got me so disgusted. And also the cruelity the director made to Yu, to leave him heartbroken and sacrificed for all his might. That's so bad ;____;

This dorama has a strong point in uncovering each person's problem (almost) to detail but not trying to mingle personal problem with the issues of work. However, it had some difficulties to manage a high (or at least average) rating of viewership since the first episode. :( If only they could hold out until the 11th episode, that'd be just fine. And I believe the ending would not be as "cheap" as having a forced romance between senior and junior. #Sarcasm

Let's Do The Craft!

Life after high school might not be good enough for me. Mkay, I graduated from high school already and was accepted in one of the most favorite colleges in town (or I may say, in country). Yay! That simply means I'm getting a very very long holiday (or just say I'm getting a leisure time) roughly 3 months, which I barely had in 12 years of school, until the college days officially start. So, congrats for me, maybe? :p

But after all, there must be a poor nick happening thou.... Yes, that practically makes me a full time jobless. Indeed.
Once I decided to be ~productive~ by getting a part time job but none of the job places I applied to response. *yes, laugh at me*
So here's this thing, three months being a lousy jobless somehow gets my crafty side to rise up.
I unintentionally found a crafter's blog while trolling some cute felt shops on Etsy. And seeing those cute handmade little felt dolls, felt pouches, suddenly urged me to make some on my own. (okay, I now sound like a cutie. Which sooo not me.)

I recalled I still had some felts, leftover fabrics and any other misspent crafting items. So why not start a personal workshop and do the crafts? That's how it all started.

The weapons.

First thing to make (or remake): my old agenda book.
I once had been flustered whether I should have a new agenda or just keep the old one. That's stoopid since I ended up whining to my friends because I was too distressed for not being able to decide about it myself. Stupid.
Anyway, here's the outcome.

agenda

Second thing(s): mini felt dolls.
They're too small and detailed I can't stand staring at them for hours to super-carefully sew them so that it'd come out pretty neat. And I have only made four so far :( and the other unfinished two.

Say hi to the minies!

Well, I can't really tell what is this but I purposely made this for keeping my passport and my saving book as seen in the picture ;) (guess I'd just name it tweety passport case. Ugh, so cheap.)

Lousy passport case.

And....... TADA!!!!! The so-called vintage pouch.
Cute, isn't it? ISN'T IT? Well I don't accept any answers other than a yes, because it's the prettiest thing I've made this far! Look at this ~fake~ floral Cath Kidston fabric on the inside! Straightly fell for it the moment I put a glance on the fabric piles... The vintage ribbon... Make it perfect in one step. So love it!

Next project: knitting class!

by - Thursday, May 03, 2012
Hi!
Here's another quick update.

1. National exam is over. (well, it is like 2 weeks ago thou)

2. I didn't get to attend Super Show 4 due to some issues I had with my mom. That was pretty suck but then I realized fangirling life isn't merely about going to concerts or so. I have priorities anyway.

3. My addiction to SM's new boy group, EXO, is getting worse. Yes it is.

4. I'm currently in a maze of deciding to replace my old agenda book with a new one or to stay loyal with it. (this is such an important matter, at least for myself! :p)

5. Life after national exam is about hanging out-watching movies-going to cinema-culinary trip and most necessary is... working out! Yeah! Swimming, biking, skipping, jogging somehow work on me ;-)

6. Currently drooling for red coat/red cardi and any other red outfits! Preferably like these ones below ;) #SUPERKODE

7. Notice something new on my Tumblr page? Mixing up red with my fav color, navy. Yay!

8. Anyway, Iko Uwais and Park Chanyeol got my heart thumps really hard!!!! ♥ These two are clearly a contradiction thou, haha.

9. Bet most of 12th graders must be really busy with college enrollment stuffs. So am I. Sigh.

10. I miss school already :(

The Hunger Games!

Final_posterweb

Like every movie devotee would love this one. Who wouldn't anyway? I even dare to give 9 out of 10 for this superb sci-fi movie! Indeed did it have an amazing plot, cool effects, great actors & actresses; those exactly make The Hunger Games a really good movie and really worth to watch.

Must be wondering then, how good is The Hunger Games (at least in my eyes)? Well, for me (at first), who hasn't even read the whole series of the books by Suzanne Collins (though I have bought the first book of the trilogy-- the translated one), The Hunger Games was more like a corporation between two of my favorite films, Avatar and Twilight Saga. No? Well okay it was just my glimpse when I firstly heard about this movie back then.

The Capitol somehow would be like Pandora in Avatar, the scientific technology (like when Katniss and other tributes were applied to a detector), hybrid things... That's pretty much Avatar-like. Just when a friend told me that there would also be a fuckin triangle love, my thought practically went to Twilight Saga. Make sense, eh?

Okay, I'm warning you I'm pretty awful at reviewing things (either it's movie or book). I basically don't like to review, I SPOIL INSTEAD :P So if you hate spoilers, just stop reading this post until this part, okay? That way won't hurt your curiousity.

Since I'm too reluctant to write a brief synopsis (that's why I told you I like to spoil instead!) which you can always find via Google, I'm just gonna quote some from Wikipedia. Here you go:

The Hunger Games takes place in a nation known as Panem after the destruction of North America by some unknown apocalyptic event. Panem consists of a wealthy Capitol and twelve surrounding, poorer districts. District 12, where the book begins, is located in the coal-rich region that was formerly Appalachia.

As punishment for a previous rebellion against the Capitol in which a 13th district was destroyed, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 from each district are selected by annual lottery to participate in the Hunger Games, an event in which the participants (or "tributes") must fight in an outdoor arena controlled by the Capitol, until only one remains. The story follows 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen, a girl from District 12 who volunteers for the 74th annual Hunger Games in place of her younger sister, Primrose. Also selected from District 12 is Peeta Mellark, a baker's son whom Katniss knows from school, and who once gave her bread when her family was starving.
And.... the spoiler starts!

From the very beginning, the feeling of tense already arose. The reaping part is my favorite! When Prim (Katniss' little sister)'s name was actually called out during the reaping, then Katniss suddenly rose against it and volunteered herself as tributes as she said, "I VOLUNTEER! I volunteer as tributes!" that was just...... epic. I don't think I would be willing to sacrifice myself that far if I were Katniss. (Suck me is suck). Haha. Though I had watched the trailer where this scene is presented before, I still had this excitement in my nerves during the movie!!

My first impression of Peeta Mellark... full of doubt. Would this guy (Josh Hutcherson) make a strong character of Peeta? And as a shocking turns-out, he did well. He did BETTER than I ever expected, and my doubt vanished right away. (Anyway, kalian anak SMADA pasti pada ga percaya kalo saya bilang Peeta disitu agak mirip Afin, apalagi pas ketawa! Fika sebagai ceweknya aja mengiyakan, lho. Lol)

Favorite part of him: when he went incognito by the river (as he painted his head & face like a boulder, and cover up his body with lichens) and suddenly Katniss almost stepped on to him and he grabbed Katniss' leg and "BA!". LOL! Startling yet so funny! Both of their expression were so priceless! And later when Katniss asked by Caesar Flickerman what did she feel when she found Peeta by the river, "I felt like the happiest person on Earth." Isn't that sweeeet <3

My third favorite part after the reaping part and Peeta gone incogito is.... the dead scene of Rue :--------( Okay this is kind of silly, but I literally cried during this scene. Especially when Katniss put garland of flowers around Rue's dead body and addressed 3-fingers-regard (which I convinced as a condolence) to the District 11 people.

Noticed any other eye-candies? DEFINITELY YES!

Say, this movie provides you with LOTS of good looking dudes. Cato (Alexander Ludwig) as one of the antagonist roles, he came from District 2 with Clove (Isabelle Fuhrman, the girl with 'mental pembunuh', I name her :p). And then, Cinna (Lenny Kravitz-- GOSH HE'S HOT!), Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley), tribute guys from District 3 and 8 (if I'm not mistaken). And don't forget Gale (Liam Hemsworth)! The one who would have a so-called triangle love with Katniss and Peeta.

I don't really ship Gale-Katniss relationship thou, it's kind of whimsy, don't you think? Unlike the originally-built-feeling of Peeta to Katniss which is so cute! They make a nice couple! In fact, the approved-feeling of Katniss to Peeta was actually made for the games only :-(

As my fourth favorite part: when Katniss & Peeta kissed, just look at Gale's heartbroken expression. *ROFL*

Okay. OKAY. I've spoilt almost everything. There are still lots of my favorite scenes I want to share, tho :-( At last, you will never regret watching this movie. Instead, you will crave for the sequel and be rotten waiting 22th November 2013 to come. :-D

May the odds be ever in your favor.
